On the International Day of Peace, students from the San Francisco International High School made paper doves to represent what peace means to them. They decided to celebrate the International Peace Day on Tuesday, Sept 20th, in our school because Wednesday the 21st is the official UN International Day of Peace. Also on Tuesday, during advisory, Peace Club members made a presentation to their advisors about the International Peace Day.
They explained what it means and translated it into their native languages. The doves were made by each student in the Advisory class. The advisory class is a place where students can share events and celebrate being together. It is a short class where a teacher can talk with his students about grades or what students can do to improve. Students can also talk about their problems. Sometimes they can do homework or assignments.
